Mountain Bikers Gear Up: Local Series Enters 7th Year
SISNA Spokane proudly presents the 7th annual "SISNA Mountain Bike Series" beginning Wednesday afternoon, July 11, and continuing on each of the following Wednesdays (July 18, 25 and August 01).
Ken Barrett with All About Adventures will organize the event. Mountain bikers of all ages and abilities will ride courses chosen from some of the best areas at Farragut State Park in Athol, Idaho.
This will be the SISNA Mountain Bike Series second year in Farragut, Idaho's largest state park, after moving from distant Schweitzer Mt. Starting at 4:30 to 6:30pm anyone who shows up at Farragut's "Flyers Field" area with a mountain style bike and helmet can register for the SISNA Sponsored dirt ride. The event will include an evening raffle and have some food and beverage services on site. Riders and families are encouraged to bring their own picnic dinners and enjoy the amentities of the park before and after the bike rides.
Riders can start individually or with their friends or rivals. The event is timed as riders negotiate the approximate 8-mile, marked route of single and double-tracked trail. Cory Murdoch of Point Photography will be shooting photos of the action from behind the scenes.
Around 5:30pm each evening kids 12 and younger can participate in a free loop ride around the field grounds led by an adult rider, followed immediately by a small participation award ceremony. Parents of the participating riders will be entered into an exclusive Eichardts Pub Grill & Coffee House raffle.
Around 8:00pm riders' times will be made available. The nightly raffle of hundreds of dollars worth of sponsor provided prizes starts shortly thereafter. Sponsors include SISNA, All About Adventures, Sandpoint Sports, Mountain View Cyclery and Fitness, Laughing Dog Brewing, Schweitzer Mountain Resort, Mt. Baldy Ski Resort (BC, Canada), Mt. Baldy Dental Center/Todd M. House DMD, Eichardts and Pucci's Pub at Schweitzer. Laughing Dog Brewing will be onsite to quench the thirst of riders and patrons alike with their great products to include Thomas Kemper Sodas. All participants are encouraged to bring swim and Frisbee golf gear, picnic dinners and sunscreen! We want you to enjoy all the amenities Farragut State Park has to offer.
Registration for the event will open at 4:00pm each evening at Flyers Field. Ride fees are $15.00 per evening or $50.00 for the entire 4 Ride Series.
