Finishers line up with awards after the first kids race of the 05 SISNA Twilight series

Mountain Biking in the Panhandle of Idaho:
The Green Owl Rendezvous, the SISNA Twilight MTB Races & a new ride...
the Priest River Downhill and much more MTB'ing!
NEW MOVIE FEATURING GOLD HILL TRAIL #3 & #2

The Green Owl is a 24-mile mtb bike ride off the backside of Schweitzer down to a tavern on the Priest River!
The ride includes 17 miles of downhill and you descend a vertical mile! Total descent - 5350 feet!!

You'll start with a helpful 12 noon chairlift ride to the top of the ski area, then descend through the Priest Lake State Forest alongside the Middle Fork of the East River (home to Bull Trout, a threatened fish) and lastly turn with it's confluence with the Priest River. Stopping anywhere along the way, you and friends can
sit in the bear grass beside cascading creeks keeping watch for the elk, moose & deer. Even further down stop for a refreshing creekside snack and water break. Finishing up on 6 miles of dirt county road…the Green Owl Tavern, the refreshing Priest River and a big yellow school bus await!

For beginners:
The initial 13 miles is downhill on moderately difficult logging roads - the bottom section gradually gets to the point of a rolling, hard-packed county road. It's initially rough, but don't worry because we provide a "sweep" guide who rides last and offers riding tips and words of encouragement for those new to the sport.
Stay back with the "sweep guide" and get private lesson!
Our 4-wheel drive 15-passenger van, SHERPA, follows the entire way so non-riders and those who would rather drive can join in on the fun.

For
experts and intermediates: We don't guide the front of the pack, but let you rip-it for the river.
Ride at your own pace and enjoy the ride!

Transportation: Your designated bus driver and your truck transported bikes return to Schweitzer Village around 5:30pm

More Mountain Biking around Sandpoint and the Idaho Panhandle:
WELCOME to the nation's finest riding area!
In the northern counties of Idaho (IMBA's only "A" rated state!) there are thousands of miles of single track
trails leading to every peak, down every creek and along the exposed ridges of the Selkirk, Cabinet, Coeur d'Alene
and Bitteroot Ranges of the Rocky Mountains.
Add to the mix the geologic features of the area: the world's largest floods; Lake Pend d'Oreille, the Priest Lakes and you get the picture that we don't suffer from dehydration here unless it is intentionally inflicted.

You won't have much to worry about once you cross the Long Bridge...the weather is gorgeous through the end of October,
there are 4 full service bike shops
(Specialized, Kona, Trek/Klein & Schwinn) in our town of 5000 diverse and friendly folks

Bike Shops in Sandpoint and north:
The Source @ Schweitzer Village, 263-9555
Sandpoint Sports, Cedar St., Sandpoint 265-6163
Sports Plus, Hwy 200 and Boyer, Sandpoint 263-5174
Outdoor Experience, 1st Ave., Sandpoint 263-6028
Alpine Designs, 5th Ave, Sandpoint 263-9373
Far-North Outfitters, Hwy 95, Bonners Ferry 267-5547

Choose "EPICS" or cruisers, mountain top rides with 7000+ feet vertical descents or lakeside rides with 500 feet vertical laps.
It's all here! Enjoy it!
